Darlington
Florence is a mid-sized southern city with lots of
charm. Located in the northeastern part of South Carolina,
Florence is located right off of I-95 (the major interstate
that runs north/south on the east coast, making it a spot
that many travelers find their way through.
Economy
Since the city of Florence keeps growing steadily, the
economic development around Florence and within the city is
constantly growing. Florence is a hub for travelers, and
residents enjoy employment at many new research facilities
and corporations that have moved to the Florence area.
Schools
There are three high schools, ten middle schools, and and
five elementary schools in Florence. The Florence public
schools are great schools with wonderful facilities and new
facilities in the works. There are also many great private
schools and Christian schools in the Florence area.
Neighborhoods
Florence is located along a major interstate, therefore many
travelers to Atlanta and Myrtle Beach find themselves going
through Florence. Myrtle Beach is approximately 70 miles
from the Florence area. Florence is very close to
Darlington, Quinby, Timmonsville, Scranton and Pamplico.
Hospitals
Florence is home to many medical parks and hospitals. The
closest hospital in Florence is the Carolina’s Hospital and
the Regency Hospital of South Carolina.
Things to Do
Even though Florence is a mid-sized town, there is still a
great deal of cultural events that happen throughout the
year. Residents and visitors to the area can enjoy the
symphony orchestra, performance theatres, ballet companies,
museums, and festivals that happen around Florence each
year. Florence is also home to the Pee-Dee Cyclones, part of
the Southern Professional Hockey League. Also, Florence
boasts a world class recreation complex called Freedom
Florence that many people find time to enjoy. With the beach
not far away, many people enjoy day trips and short trips to
the beaches on South Carolina’s coast.
